From the Airport to the City Center and the Math Faculty There are basically three options: Taxi (approx. 30 EUR, 30 min.): Just go to one of the counters in the arrival hall. Train to city center: Follow the signs for the trains from the arrivals hall. Trains run directly from the airport to the "Wien Mitte" station. There are then two possibilities: City Airport Train (CAT, travelling time 16 min, every 30 min, 9 EUR). Schedule S-Bahn (Metro operated by the Austrian Federal Railways, travelling time 24 min, approximately every other 30 min, 4.50): You should buy a ticket from the machines at the platform (English display available) for "Wien Zentrum". Please note that you must validate your ticket by stamping it in the machine next to the ticket machine BEFORE you get on the train. Schedule To go on to the Math Faculty change at "Wien Mitte/Landstraße" to underground line U4 (direction Heiligenstadt) to Friedensbrücke. It is then a three minutes walk to the faculty. For a map click here. Bus (Vienna Airport Lines): Buses depart from outside of the arrival hall at the airport. Different destinations are possible. We recommend the following two possibilities: Schwedenplatz (travel time 20 min; every 30 min, 6 EUR), which is very near to the city center. From Wien Westbahnhof Railway Station to Math Department By subway: Take the underground line U6 line from Westbahnhof (direction Floridsdorf) to Spittelau. Change to U4 (direction Hütteldorf) to Friedensbrücke. Walk 3 minutes to the faculty (map). By tram: Take the number 5 tram from Westbahnhof (direction Praterstern) to Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof. Then walk 5 minutes along Nordbergstraße to the mathematics faculty (map). Wien Südbahnhof Railway Station to Math Department Take tram line D (direction Nußdorf) to Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof.
